2020 Low6 PDC Home Tour Play-Offs Last 32 Preview

Day Three of the 2020 Low6 PDC Home Tour Play-Offs commences tonight, featuring the third group of eight at the last 32 stage.

Tonight’s group features the two-time world champion and the legend that is Gary Anderson, the reigning world youth champion Luke Humphries, former World Championship semi finalist Jamie Lewis and recent tour card holder Nick Kenny.

Three world champions have already departed at this stage in the first two days. Will Anderson make it four? Will he join Jelle Klaasen and Mike De Decker in the semis? Or will the others have something to say?

All matches are the best of 11 legs (first to 6) with the player on the left of each fixture throwing first.

Gary Anderson v Nick Kenny

Leg 1

Kenny begins his night with a maximum but it’s Anderson who gets first chance, missing tops for a 120 finish before returning next visit to hit it first dart. Anderson 1-0 Kenny.

Leg 2

Anderson misses bull for a 121 finish but returns to hit double 4 for the early break after Kenny missed tops for a 79 finish. Anderson 2-0 Kenny.

Leg 3

Anderson is set to go 3-0 ahead but the ‘Flying Scotsman’ misses four darts at double allowing Kenny to step in and take out 51 on double 8 for an instant break back. Anderson 2-1 Kenny.

Leg 4

Anderson misses four more darts at doubles but Kenny doesn’t take advantage this time, missing two at double 18 with the first dart knocking the 8 off! Literally! Anderson sinks double 5 to restore his two leg lead. Anderson 3-1 Kenny.

Leg 5

Anderson misses tops for an 80 finish but Kenny drags an effort at the same bed for a 120 finish and Anderson finds double 5 last dart to move three clear of the Welshman. Anderson 4-1 Kenny.

Leg 6

Anderson only gets one dart at double instead of two on 41 but he’s off target with the double 16 and Kenny coolly slots in 60 on tops to keep himself in contention. Anderson 4-2 Kenny.

Leg 7

Anderson misses double 12 for a 90 finish but returns to hit double 6 last dart to move within one of the match, despite not being at his best! Anderson 5-2 Kenny.

Leg 8

Anderson has a chance at 82 but greediness going for the treble costs him and can’t go out. Kenny has a chance to stay alive but goes into double 1 when taking out double 18 for a 64 out and Anderson once again lands double 10 last dart for an unconvincing victory!

Only a 87 average and 6/28 on the doubles from Anderson but a win’s a win and two points is slotted into his kitty!

Luke Humphries v Jamie Lewis

Leg 1

After a long delay due to Humphries’ connection the game finally gets underway and what a start for Humphries! Hitting a maximum and the checks out 46 on double 8 for a 12 darter! Humphries 1-0 Lewis.

Leg 2

Both players trade in maximums but Jamie Lewis levels thanks to an 81 checkout on the bull, also a 12 darter! Humphries 1-1 Lewis.

Leg 3

Humphries misses double 16 for an 81 finish himself but he returns to pin double 8 second dart to go back in front. Humphries 2-1 Lewis.

Leg 4

Both players trade maximums but despite missing double 19 for a 98 finish, Lewis does gets himself level thanks to double 4 after Humphries missed double 16 for a 104 finish. Humphries 2-2 Lewis.

Leg 5

Humphries kicks off with his fourth maximum but despite missing double 8 and double 4 for a 76 finish the reigning world youth champion pins double 1 to once again move ahead. Humphries 3-2 Lewis.

Leg 6

Despite missing two big numbers in the visit prior, Humphries nails the first break after picking out double 16 second dart. Humphries 4-2 Lewis.

Leg 7

Humphries misses double 16 for a 70 checkout but he eventually returns to hit double 8 last dart after Lewis missed double 12 for a 101 finish. Humphries one away from victory. Humphries 5-2 Lewis.

Leg 8

Humphries misses double 5 for an 87 finish for the match but Lewis fails to capitalize on 121, missing the big 11! Humphries returns to split it, hitting the big two and he eventually tucks home double 4 for the win and a solid start to the night for the reigning world youth champion.

Nick Kenny v Jamie Lewis

Leg 1

First blood in the all Welsh clash goes to Jamie Lewis after taking out 52 on double 16. Kenny 0-1 Lewis.

Leg 2

Double 16 once again is picked off by Lewis and he doubles his lead as a result. Kenny 0-2 Lewis.

Leg 3

Kenny hits the first 180 of the game and he duly takes out 66 on double 12 to open his account. Kenny 1-2 Lewis.

Leg 4

Lewis sets it up brilliant on 148 to leave double 4 and he takes it first dart to restore his two leg lead. Kenny 1-3 Lewis.

Leg 5

Lewis puts away his first maximum of the match and then so narrowly misses double 8 for a 136 finish. He does return however to pin it first dart and open up a three leg gap on his fellow countryman. Kenny 1-4 Lewis.

Leg 6

Lewis hits his second maximum in two legs. He then misses three at double 16 before hitting it second dart next visit to move within a leg of the finishing line. Kenny 1-5 Lewis.

Leg 7

Lewis puts away his third 180 but misses a match dart at double 16 on 61 and Kenny lands double 11 for the second time of asking to stay alive! Kenny 2-5 Lewis.

Leg 8

Stay life in this match yet as Kenny hits his second 180 and then proceeds to hit double 16 for a 13 darter and to pull another leg back. Kenny 3-5 Lewis.

Leg 9

The momentum is with Kenny now as he takes out 96 on double 18 to win three on the spin and move within a leg of Lewis! Pressure now for Jamie! Kenny 4-5 Lewis.

Leg 10

RELIEF FOR LEWIS! A great comeback from Kenny but Lewis eventually seals it with a 68 finish on double 16 to keep his chances of topping the group alive and ending his fellow compatriot’s hopes in the process!

Gary Anderson v Luke Humphries

Leg 1

Humphries puts in a maximum in the first leg but the reigning world youth champion misses a dart at bull to break Anderson’s throw and the Scotsman punishes him with a 68 checkout on tops. Anderson 1-0 Humphries.

Leg 2

Brilliant scoring leg from both but it’s Anderson’s turn to miss darts at double to break and Humphries recovers from missing a big number to landing double 16 to level. Anderson 1-1 Humphries.

Leg 3

Another break chance goes begging for Humphries as he misses the bull for a 121 out and Anderson lands double 8 to save his throw once more! Anderson 2-1 Humphries.

Leg 4

Anderson starts off with his first maximum of the game and the two time world champion grabs the first break of the game after taking out 81 in two for a gorgeous 11 dart leg. Anderson 3-1 Humphries.

Leg 5

Wonderful from Anderson yet again as he nails three 140 scores in a row and he puts the cream on it with an 81 finish on the bull for a 12 darter in response to the 11 darter in the previous leg. Anderson 4-1 Humphries.

Leg 6

Anderson misses double 16 for a 103 finish but Humphries is off target with double 9 on 70 and Anderson picks out double 8 to move within one of glory. Anderson 5-1 Humphries.

Leg 7

ANDERSON WINS!!! Humphries missed double 19 for a 158 finish but returns after Anderson misses two at tops for the match! Humphries lets him off the hook with two misses of his own on the outer ring and Anderson lands double 10 to seal off a wonderful performance and two wins in two!

A 110.12 average and 6/11 on the doubles shows evidence of how well Anderson played!

Luke Humphries v Nick Kenny

Leg 1

Fine start from Humphries as he checks out 114 on tops for first blood. Humphries 1-0 Kenny.

Leg 2

Kenny hits the first maximum of the match but then misses double 18 for a 68 checkout. But then he can only stand and watch as Humphries shows his class with a beautiful 160 finish on tops to break and double his advantage. Humphries 2-0 Kenny.

Leg 3

Humphries on fire here as he takes out 65 on tops to treble his lead! Humphries 3-0 Kenny.

Leg 4

Kenny lands his second 180 but misses a dart at the bull for a 94 finish and Humphries once again clears up with a 96 finish on double 18 to maintain his last ditch effort in topping the group. Humphries 4-0 Kenny.

Leg 5

Humphries finally gets a maximum but despite missing the big 10 when going for 102, he makes no mistake on double 8 to move within one of the whitewash! Humphries 5-0 Kenny.

Leg 6

Kenny fires in a third maximum to leave 39 and the Welshman takes it out in two to avoid the whitewash. Humphries must now hold to keep his chances of topping the group alive. Humphries 5-1 Kenny.

Leg 7

HUMPHRIES STAYS ALIVE! Kenny opened the leg with 6 perfect darts before missing with the seventh. However, he doesn’t get a shot at double as Humphries checks out on 117 on tops (his third ton plus of the match) to keep his slim hopes in topping the group alive and now needs Lewis to beat Anderson 6-0 for the dream to come true. Kenny finishes bottom of the pile.

Jamie Lewis is now out of contention and that means that Gary Anderson needs just a single leg to progress to the semi-finals.

Jamie Lewis v Gary Anderson

Leg 1

GARY ANDERSON IS THROUGH TO THE SEMI-FINALS! He hits his first maximum to leave 81 but misses the bull for it. He then misses two darts at double 8 to give Jamie Lewis a sniff but the Welshman misses three at tops and Anderson nails double 2 last dart to seal his place into the semi-finals albeit with winning the group. Lewis 0-1 Anderson.

Leg 2

Anderson misses double 8 for a 96 finish to double his lead and Lewis takes out 82 in a strange way on double 12 to break straight back! Lewis 1-1 Anderson.

Leg 3

Anderson begins the leg with back to back maximums but no nine darter here as he flings the seventh dart into the one! Despite missing double 4 next time round he pins double 2 on the visit after to go back ahead. Lewis 1-2 Anderson.

Leg 4

Anderson misses double 20 for a 72 finish and Lewis lands double 10 to level the contest once more. Lewis 2-2 Anderson.

Leg 5

Lewis misses two darts at double 12 for an 84 finish but the Welshman returns to hit double 6 first dart after Anderson missed double 9 for a 123 finish to break. Lewis 3-2 Anderson.

Leg 6

Lewis hits his first maximum of the game but Anderson then puts in a stunning leg to level, taking out 72 on double 12 for a 14 darter. Lewis 3-3 Anderson.

Leg 7

Superb finish from Anderson as he takes out 103 on tops to break and move back ahead in this see saw contest! Lewis 3-4 Anderson.

Leg 8

Anderson is zooming to the line now as he takes out his second ton plus finish a row (a 106 finish on double 16) for a 12 darter and move within one of going unbeaten for the night! Lewis 3-5 Anderson.

Leg 9

ANDERSON ENDS THE NIGHT UNBEATEN! He hits his fourth maximum to leave double 12 but then proceeds to miss three darts at 12’s and 6’s for the match. Lewis can’t take out 100 and Anderson slots in double 6 to end the night with three wins in three and his spot in the semi-finals was already secured earlier in the match.

It was nip and tuck for the first 6 legs but Anderson showed his class once again to win! He remains unbeaten in this tournament and from not looking like playing due to Wi-Fi trouble, he’s now into the semi-finals of the Home Tour!
