One of the players lighting up the board in terms of averages so far on Day one of Q-School 2020 was Kai Fan Leung. Today he returned to Q-School in Wigan and topped the pile winning his tour card.
His route to the decider:
The final against Ashton was a real ding-dong battle. An early break apiece was followed by some quality finishing. First Ashton took out a monster 130 finish in leg 6 to break again only to see Leung bang in a 104 to move 4-3 ahead on serve. Ashton forced a break to tie things up at 4 all but cool as a cucumber Kai-Fan hit a crucial 180 and finished off 32 to leave Lisa stranded on 72.
Who is Kai-Fan Leung, darts player?
Kai-Fan is a 36 year old left handed darts player from Hong Kong. He is the winner of two BDO titles, both victories coming at the Hong Kong Open (2018 and 2019).
Kai played in the 2018 PDC world championships where he lost 2-0 to the legend Paul Lim. This wasn’t his debut in the PDC however as in 2017 he qualified for the UK Open having played 6 qualifiers having failed to gain his tour card at Q-School.
Teaming up with Roydon Lam representing Hong Kong at the 2017 Betway World Cup of Darts they lost in the first round.
Kai-Fan won’t have been on many people’s lists of tour card qualifiers but his performance over the first two days see him a very well deserved tour card holder!
