Yesterday Twitter lit up with reports of exorbitant sums of money being matched on Betfair on the outcome of a darts match.
The match in question took place between Martin Adams and Raymond van Barneveld in the Modus Icons of Darts series and resulted in “Wolfie” completing a whitewash victory over dutch legend van Barneveld.

Official response from Betfair to betting concerns
With the enormous amounts having been matched on BetFair and the many claims being made we decided to contact Betfair for a statement:
Dear sir or madam, we have seen numerous messages on social media about irregular betting patterns on the Modus Icons of Darts matches. The match in particular being yesterday where Martin Adams defeated Raymond van Barneveld 5-0. Some have reported seeing £100,000 being matched compared to very small sums on other matches. Can you confirm this and have they been reported to any authorities?
Hi there and thank you for getting in touch with us today. This issue has been reported to us several times since the match was played. We had it raised with the relevant teams last night and we had to wait for their response. I will double-check if they’ve gotten back to us already. Customer service operator
No worries. It seems like the team advised that after further investigation, bets placed on the Exchange will stand. I do apologize for any inconvenience.
Thank you very much for the response
